McGladrey Institute of Accounting Education and Research

Mission

The institute's goals are to foster educational excellence in the accounting programs at the University of Iowa, to encourage high-quality research by Iowa accounting faculty, and to increase the visibility of the institute within the University of Iowa and at the firm of McGladrey LLP. In an environment of increasingly limited state funding for higher education, the institute provides financial support crucial to sustaining and enhancing the University of Iowa's nationally prominent accounting programs.

Through sponsorship of various initiatives and activities, the institute promotes educational excellence at the University of Iowa. Examples include an annual national speaker series, a writing excellence program, and a business case competition.

The institute promotes the research of Iowa faculty by helping faculty initiate high-quality accounting research projects, publish their research findings in top-tier journals, and further disseminate the findings to the academic, business, government, and professional accounting communities.

In addition, the institute sponsors activities of common interest to McGladrey LLP professionals and Iowa faculty and students. Examples include an annual meeting of McGladrey LLP personnel and Iowa faculty, and an annual event welcoming Iowa Master of Accountancy students to campus.
