Admissions Guidelines

The key step to applying to our program is that you need to send forms to two places – graduate college admissions and the department. You may follow the links below for more details:

Application forms are available online. Send the appropriate copies of these forms to Office of Admissions, The University of Iowa, 107 Calvin Hall, Iowa City, IA 52242-1396. Please also note that the Educational Testing Service (ETS) must send your GMAT and TOEFL scores directly to the University (code: 6681).

Students must pass the University-administered SPEAK and LECT tests before the end of the first semester in residence to continue receiving financial aid. The LECT test is designed to ensure that persons appointed as teaching assistants possess the required language and communication skills.

Alternative to the TOEFL
An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) total score of 7.0, with no subscore less than 6.0, may be used to satisfy the TOEFL requirement. All IELTS test-takers will be required to take the on-campus English Proficiency Evaluation.

In addition, you will need to send the following forms to Renea Jay (see address below):

The statement can be printed on a plain sheet of paper. It is OK if the recommendation letter is a stand-alone letter (preferably on letterhead) that speaks to your goals, skills, and the motivation for graduate study. These documents must be mailed directly to:

Renea Jay, Ph.D. Program Coordinator
Henry B. Tippie College of Business
108 John Pappajohn Business Building, W288
