Python is powerful and fast. Fans of Python use the phrase “batteries included” to describe the standard library, which covers everything from asynchronous processing to zip les. The language itself is a exible powerhouse that has gained popularity because of its clear syntax and readability. In this workshop you will learn how to create basic programming structures including decisions and loops. You will also learn object-oriented programming with classes and exceptions. All UI Faculty/Staff or Graduate/Professional Students, as well as start-ups with a principal address at the UI Research Park or Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory are invited to participate. Pitch your idea to our panel of judges to receive cash towards building your business. Its simplicity and user-friendliness make it ideal for beginning programmers to use to dive into the world of dynamic Web sites. After going through the basics of Ruby programming, lean about the Ruby on Rails framework environment. Ruby on rails is a relatively new, but already very popular, player in the world of dynamic Web sites. Learn the steps of creating the Ruby on Rails framework and then modifying that framework with Ruby programming to customize your Web site just the way you want it. At the end of this course you’ll be able to use the techniques you’ve learned to build and customize your own dynamic Web application. The Ruby programming language uses simple, easy to remember syntax, along with a host of special functions that perform many time-consuming programming jobs for you. More information
