What is the Faculty/Staff Campaign?
The University of Iowa and the UI Foundation conduct an annual fund program focused on giving from faculty and staff (We are Phil). Within that program, the TCOB is holding a special campaign during the week of October 13-17, 2014, to provide added visibility and awareness of this annual fund program. While we are hoping to greatly increase participation over the course of the special campaign, all contributions between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015, will count toward the college's overall participation rate for the year.
Do I have to give to a TCOB fund or can I give to any part of the University?
Any gift to the UI Foundation counts toward this week's campaign.
What happens at the events each day?
Each day at 11:30 a.m., you'll see volunteers setting up a table and collection box (for your pledge forms and donations). Some days include speakers, some days include food, and there's even a day for games and competitions.
What are the prize drawings?
Each day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., you'll have the opportunity to put your pledge form envelope into a collection box. Each day's drawings will be held at 1 p.m., so get your envelope in before 1 p.m. to be eligible for that day's drawing. Prizes are small Tippie items provided by the committee.
What if I already turned in my envelope on a previous day? Am I not allowed to be in the drawing for prizes?
If you've already provided your pledge envelope on a previous day, you can write your name on an index card (provided at the table) and put it into the box for a drawing.
What if I give online? Can I still enter the drawing?
Yes. Simply put your name on an index card at the table and drop it in the collection box.
I can't get to any of these events between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. How do I turn in my pledge sheet?
You can make your pledge online, or before the event and until 3 p.m. each afternoon by dropping your pledge envelope in the black box in the Dean's Office. In either case, be sure to ask the office staff for your We are PHIL/We are TIPPIE bracelet.
What are the We are PHIL/We are TIPPIE bracelets, and how do I get one?
These bracelets are provided to anyone that puts a pledge form in the collection box. Visit the dean's office with your bracelet and they'll provide you with one Keurig coffee cup to be used in the faculty/staff lounge. The Dean's Office staff will mark you off when you come in (to ensure one cup per donation/pledge).
Will other faculty and staff know if and what I'm giving or pledged?
No. The only people who see the actual pledge forms are staff at the UI Foundation. They provide us with updated (and completely anonymous) participation numbers each day.
What are the department competitions about?
It's a friendly competition between departments and the emphasis is on participation.
Two department prizes will be awarded:
- Highest overall percent of participation—free box lunch for your whole office at your next meeting
- Largest improvement in percent participation—free cookie platter at your next meeting.
