It’s all about participation.

There are many funds that you can support—some within the Tippie College and some of them in other deserving parts of the university. The listing below highlights the Tippie funds that might be of interest, but if there are other parts of the university that you want to support, explore the UI Foundation’s website. You can learn more about ways to give as well as the many university funds you can support.

General TCOB Operations Funds

  • Tippie College of Business Excellence Fund
    These funds provide unrestricted resources for the leaders of the Tippie College. Whether supporting scholarships, technology initiatives, or seminars and lectures, these funds help make the Tippie College of Business the nationally ranked institution that it is today.
  • Tippie College Undergraduate Program Fund
    Gifts to this fund helps improve the undergraduate program by providing support for student organizations, sending students to conferences, supporting networking events, providing study abroad scholarships, and develop recruiting and success initiatives.
  • Tippie College MBA Opportunity Fund
    All Tippie MBA programs benefit from this fund. Resources are used to help increase diversity in our programs, enhance our career support services, expand experiential learning opportunities, and expand our international programming.

Memorial Funds

  • The Eleanor Birch Memorial Fund (UIF Account Number: 30-329-014) provides funding for Tippie MBA programs in honor of long-time Tippie professor Eleanor Birch.

Institutes & Other Curricular Funds

  • Frank Communications Center
    The center endeavors to be a comprehensive and nationally acclaimed communications program that models its training to meet real-world needs. Its mission is to ensure that every business graduate will have an opportunity to benefit from our emphasis on strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Sharon Scheib Professional Writing Initiative
    This fund provides resources to help the Frank Business Communication Center extend its programs to more students in the college.
  • Hawkinson Institute of Business Finance
    This institute facilitates our students' career opportunities in the investment banking and financial services industries by serving as a major link between faculty, alumni, and students of the college and the financial community.
  • Henry Fund
    Income from the fund is used to support annual scholarships for MBA students; recruit high-quality students to the Tippie MBA program; boost opportunities for travel and interaction with investment professionals; and market the finance program to prospective employers.
  • Institute for International Business
    The International Business Studies Fund provides resources for program development, promotion, student support, faculty development, and research in the area of international business studies.
  • Marketing Institute
    Support for the Marketing Institute helps prepare students for careers in today's competitive marketing environment by utilizing experiential learning, seminars, networking opportunities, internships, and guest speakers. The institute partners students, faculty, alumni, and companies to address current issues faced by marketing professionals.
  • John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC)
    JPEC supports the spirit of new enterprise in Iowa through education, outreach, and research. Initiatives include a certificate program for all University of Iowa students, adult outreach programs, and training and curriculum for Iowa high school teachers.

    The Vaughan Institute of Risk Management and Insurance (within the Department of Finance) helps provide Iowa's insurance industry with a well-educated workforce and can offer top-notch continuing education and development for professionals in the insurance field.

Accounting-Specific Funds

  • Accounting Ph.D. Support Fund
    This fund is used to provide tuition, travel, computer, and research support for deserving doctoral students.
  • Arthur Andersen Alumni/Faculty Professorship
    This endowed fund provides a salary supplement and research budget to attract and retain a senior faculty member who has achieved national visibility through his or her professional activities and research.
  • Byron R. Ross Award for Teaching Excellence
    The endowed awards were established to recognize Byron R. Ross who, following his retirement from McGladrey & Pullen, served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Accounting for a number of years. The awards are based on the winners' strong commitment to education, as evidenced by teaching evaluations, pedagogical innovations, and good citizenship.
  • Carlson-KPMG Research Professorship
    This endowed fund provides a salary supplement and research budget to attract and retain a senior faculty member who has achieved national visibility through his or her professional activities and research.
  • Ernst & Young Professorship
    This fund provides a salary supplement and research budget to attract and retain a senior faculty member who has achieved national visibility through his or her professional activities and research.
  • RSM McGladrey Institute of Accounting Education and Research
    This fund is used to support the RSM National Speaker Series, the Department's Working Paper Series, and research activities of faculty.
