Style Guide: Logo Usage


As an institution, the Tippie College of Business is a subbrand of a larger brand, the University of Iowa. This presents a challenge as we strive to promote both brands in our communications materials. In an effort to streamline logo usage in printed materials and on the web, we have developed a logo that combines elements of both the university and Tippie logos. This logo has been approved by the UI Graphic Standards Committee.

When working with any approved logo, do not resize, stretch, or embellish the work of art. If you face challenges when using the logo in a document or materials or are having downloading any of the files below, please contact Linda Knowling, 319-335-0869.

  • Adobe Illustrator/Vector file— for print and silkscreening—This file may be imported into a document and enlarged or reduced in size proportionally, but not otherwise altered. This file can be used when providing a logo to outside vendors for printing on promotional objects. You won't be able to preview this file unless you have Adobe Illustrator.
  • JPG file—for office printing only—This file may be imported into a word-processing or presentation program, reduced in size, and placed on a white background. JPGs may be reduced but should not be enlarged. The JPG reproduces poorly when enlarged.
  • GIF file—This file should be used as is, without rotation or resizing. This logo can be used in PowerPoint presentations. A GIF file has the ability to provide the logo with a transparent background so that if you place the logo on a colored background, only the graphic appears. If you have questions regarding the use of a GIF with a transparent logo, contact Linda Knowling.

To save any of the .jpg and .gif logos from this website to your hard drive please right click on the file and select "Save target as..." or "Save link as...". To save .ai files click on the file and it will download automatically.
