Diversity in the Tippie College

In today’s working world, business graduates need to be equipped with the skills necessary to work in a rich and diverse community. It is important to understand, appreciate, and communicate effectively with clients and co-workers from different backgrounds.

At the Tippie College, we value the richness of a diverse working and educational environment. Increasing the breadth and depths of diversity is a strategic priority of the University of Iowa. Programs like The Iowa Edge are devoted to helping nontraditional students transition into college life. The success of these programs is inspiring, and we welcome new ideas on how to improve our offerings and programs.

Iowa Edge Wins Catalyst Award

One of the 2008 Catalyst Awards was presented to The Iowa Edge program in recognition of its distinctive and innovative efforts to support diversity on the UI campus.

The Catalyst Awards are designed to honor those who have shown a university commitment to achieving excellence through diversity. The Iowa Edge won in the program or department category.

The Iowa Edge helps African-American, American Indian,
Asian-American, Latino, Pacific Islander, and first-generation low-income college students enter into a large, predominantly white university setting.
