The Executive Engineering Management Master's Degree Program begins with a Residency Week on the University of Iowa campus. This week is usually the week prior to the start of winter session of undergraduate classes.
During the first-year dual degree residency week, students get to know their classmates and study group, and they are introduced to the administration and some of the faculty. Instruction events include an engaging business simulation that introduces basic business concepts while building study-group team relationships. Additionally students get a "CPA in a Day" course that provides a helpful overview of basic accounting principles and concepts for use during the program and at work.
We also take time during the first week to cover some of the mundane things like getting student identifcation cards, getting an official university photo taken for the roster book, and getting your logon ID and script for the university computer system.
The second year residency week takes place on the Iowa State University campus. This week is comprised of a very intense business simulation activity that draws upon everything students learned during the first year as well as introduces students to more business concepts that will be studied during the second year. In both residency week programs, students will participate in team-building activities, dine with business leaders, and build stronger presentation skills.
