A new member of the Tippie School of Management family, Andrew Jetton, comes to us after a 15+ years career in the Houston area working in product management, strategic planning, and business development for companies ranging from venture-backed technology start-ups to Fortune 500 energy companies. So far, he's really enjoying interacting with our MBA students. The cold and snow—not so much.
Andrew's vision for the Strategic Innovations (SI) Academy is to help Tippie become recognized as a leading source of innovation managers, preparing students to work across the areas of strategy and operations, and to help companies create value from new products, processes and business models. To that end, his focus is on building relationships with Tippie alums and area companies so SI Academy students can become engaged with the growing amount of innovation-related activity in Iowa and the surrounding region. He hopes that students leave Tippie able to think strategically to solve problems in all areas of business, utilize innovation to create new ideas and processes, and understand technology in a way that helps them apply science to commerce and industry.
On April 15, the SI Academy will host its annual Innovation Forum at the University Athletic Club. Attendees, including MBA students, alumni, and students from other graduate programs, as well as the general public, will hear how executives and entrepreneurs approach innovation on a daily basis. This year's forum will focus on the different ways innovation is cultivated and realized in companies of all sizes, featuring speakers from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups still in the incubation stage.
