SI Academy: Back Bay Battery Simulation (First Years Only) Add to your Outlook Calendar

In this fast-paced simulation, youll play the role of a business unit manager at a battery company facing the classic Innovator's Dilemma. Players will have to manage R&D investment tradeoffs between the unit's existing battery technology versus investing in a new, potentially disruptive battery technology.  Over the course of eight simulated years, youll address a number of challenges including the timing and level of investment across both mature and new businesses, choices regarding market opportunities and inherent product performance characteristics, requirements to meet constraining financial objectives and constant trade-offs between investment options, all in the context of uncertain market information.

2014 Net Impact Sustainability Summit Add to your Outlook Calendar

Come learn from two thought leaders on the processes, devices, and practices that empower businesses and individuals to be more successful and profitable today and in the long-term. Our two speakers are Scott Walters, VP of EcoBusiness Lighting Control at Schneider Electric and Matthew Mehalik, Ph.D., Program Manager at Sustainable Pittsburgh. Schneider Electric is a Global Fortune 500 company that builds systems and devices for energy management. Sustainable Pittsburgh is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to affect "the decision-making in the Pittsburgh region to integrate economic prosperity, social equity, and environmental quality bringing sustainable solutions to communities and businesses" Sustainable Pittsburgh coordinates the Green Workplace Challenge, a yearlong competition between businesses, governments, and NGOs to implement green processes and practices. A light breakfast will be served at 8:30. *Do you think that financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship should be part of what children learn in school?

*Do you think its important for students to be able to connect what they are learning to the real world?

If you answered yes to these questions, you should consider becoming a Junior Achievement Classroom Volunteer!

Attend this 1-hr orientation session to learn more about the program, sign up for specific classroom assignments available this April and May, and complete all the necessary paperwork. 

Junior Achievement is the worlds largest and organization dedicated to educating young people about work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Through age-appropriate curricula, Junior Achievement programs begin in kindergarten and continue through high school, teaching kids how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers while inspiring and preparing them to succeed in a global economy. All JA programs use materials and lesson plans provided by Junior Achievement.
