James S. Vaughan
Jim Vaughan has over four decades of investment banking experience with 20-plus years with large firms and the last 20 years with Cain Brothers, a boutique investment banking firm focused on healthcare services. After retiring at the end of 2014, he wrote the syllabus for and began teaching “The Business of Healthcare” course at New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service to second-year Masters of Public Administration students. In the course of his career, Jim has worked on a wide range of public and private debt and equity financings for both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. He has also written extensively on topics relating to the integration of health care policy and reimbursement and the practical aspects of operating profitable businesses.
Before starting his Wall Street career, Jim received his BA from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut, served in the U.S. Navy, and obtained a MBA from the Columbia Business School. Jim is a Midwesterner and he attended high school in Cedar Rapids. He leads the Board of Trustees of The Frost Valley YMCA, a year-round camping, environmental education, and conferencing facility in New York State’s Catskill Park.
