Owen Beelders has 13 years of experience in the financial services industry that includes two years in structured insurance products and 10 years modeling mortgages. He currently works in the Quantitative Methods group of enterprise risk management. He joined TIAA-CREF in September 2014 from AllianceBernstein, Fixed Income Quantitative Methods group, where his non-agency models were used as a platform for PPIP and institutional funds. Previously, he held positions at Citigroup, Chubb Financial Solutions and was an assistant professor at Emory University. Owen holds a Phd in economics from the University of Rochester and a Masters (economics) and BS(hons) (statistics) degree from the University of Cape Town.

 If you were tasked in your role after Tippie to re-invent, re-position or even create a brand, where would you start? Changing or shifting a brand’s perception is more than simply changing a logo, letterhead and landing pages. In this session Ali will present a process, or framework, for understanding and evaluating a brand’s current position and for and creating (or repositioning) a brand in the marketplace. As the General Manager of Treasury Capital Management at Microsoft, Anita Prasad is responsible for corporate finance, capital structure, share buybacks & dividend policy, structured investments, global cash and liquidity, treasury operations, and credit services for MS online businesses.

Anita is passionate about leveraging technology and partnering with customers and vendors to help drive revenue opportunities. She provided leadership to drive the recently announced external reporting segment changes. She lead the first ever implementation of SWIFT’s ISO-XML 20022 version 2 for worldwide cash operations and implemented a SQL based BI application; both showcase MS technologies. She has led her team to winning several industry awards including Euro-Finance, Alexander Hamilton, Adam Smith, and Pinnacle awards for leveraging technology and innovative processes to address business challenges in treasury. She was named to the 2011 list of Treasury & Risk magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in Finance and 2014 Adam Smith’s Treasury Woman of the Year.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Anita served as Vice President of Treasury and Tax at LSI Logic Corporation. During her tenure Anita provided leadership in designing effective balance sheet structuring, manufacturing strategy & pricing policy, stock buyback programs, currency & interest rate risk management, M&A, domestic and off-shore portfolio management, venture portfolio, and international tax structuring.

Before corporate life, Anita was an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She holds a Bachelors and Masters in Economics, an MBA in MIS, and a PhD in Finance and International Business.

Andrew Himmer is currently Manager of Quantitative Analysis and Risk Management within Dow Chemical’s Treasury Department. Within this role, Andrew is responsible for researching and developing investment strategies across asset classes for Dow’s North American Pension plans. In addition, Andrew also manages risk for Dow’s commodity and foreign exchange Corporate Hedging programs.

Prior to his current role, Andrew was a Treasury Credit Analyst managing a large portfolio of Dow customers. In that role, Andrew employed fundamental analysis of customer financial statements and balanced risk versus reward of individual and industry exposures in order to efficiently manage Dow’s working capital.

Prior to joining Dow, Andrew was a VP of Engineering at a technology startup (TheFancy.com) and a Software Engineer at IBM.

Andrew holds an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from The University of Chicago. He also holds an MS in Computer Science from Stony Brook University, and a BS in Computer Science from Florida State University.
