Annual Fall Trip
In the past couple years Milwaukee and Minneapolis have been the destinations. In 2011, the Marketing trip visited Best Buy, Eaton, Fast Horse and Nielsen. The trips typically include Tippie Table Talks: Valuable networking opportunities between Iowa MBA graduates and current students.
Annual Marketing Forum
GMA hosts a forum each fall with prestigious alumni speakers who work in high-level marketing roles. Select marketing professionals from the Iowa City community also attend the event.
Bone Marrow Marketing Campaign
GMA plans to launch a week-long marketing campaign in fall 2011 to recruit University of Iowa students, staff, and faculty to register for the bone marrow database. This is a noble philanthropic cause and will also provide our students with first-hand experience in designing a marketing event.
Super Bowl Party
GMA hosts an annual Super Bowl and advertising analysis party. This year it was hosted at the Indoor Club at Kinnick Stadium. It was the perfect location for watching the game, with a view of the playing field, a drop down LCD projector and screen, and ten flat screen TVs. Students and marketing faculty evaluated the game's ads for humor and impact.
Annual Spring Trip
In recent years, Marketing students visited Chicago and the Quad Cities. The more local trip in 2012 brought the marketing trip to visit the John Deere World Headquarters, Mississippi River Distilling Company and MindFire Communication. Students learned about the marketing functions at each of these companies and networked with Tippie alumni.
