Financial Analysis Manager, Sprint
Responsibilities of current position: I do revenue planning and analysis. More specifically, I analyze business drivers, perform variance and trend analysis, and partner with the operational teams in order to forecast nearly $23 billion of annual revenue in the postpaid wireless business unit. I present monthly results and forecasts to the V.P. of pricing in order to ensure a strong understanding of trends and underlying business drivers of ARPU (average revenue per user) performance. I also educate Corporate FP&A and Investor Relations on current and future ARPU performance in order for them to plan more effectively and provide the street with guidance.
The value of an MBA: I graduated from undergrad with a general business degree from a liberal arts college. While I was very well-rounded in the different areas of business, I lacked the training and skills specific to a job in the corporate finance world. The highly acclaimed finance program at Tippie was able to equip me with these skills and open new opportunities for my career. I have several friends who went to other programs and got MBAs from reputable programs, but will also be paying back student loan debt for many years to come. I feel like I got the same quality for much less.
Why Iowa was right for me: Iowa has a unique mix of a small-school feel in a big-school atmosphere. Since the actual MBA program isn’t that big, you are able to really get to know your classmates and learn from their experiences. However, you are studying at a Big Ten university so you also get all the extracurricular activities (division 1 collegiate athletics, top-notch faculty/staff and facilities, etc.) that go along with that.
