Prediction Markets Prove Their Worth

Who will win the World Cup? An octopus in Germany has correctly predicted the outcome of every one of that country's games. But a better bet might be prediction markets. Prediction markets have proved their worth in presidential elections: Research from The University of Iowa, which runs the only real-money political prediction market in the country, indicates that such markets perform at least as well as traditional polling methods.
