Madrid Internship Program

There is no better way to explore another culture and to expand your foreign language skills than to live and work abroad.

The Madrid Internship Program is a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to develop greater awareness of Spanish culture and to enhance Spanish language skills in the context of a professional work experience. Not only will your language skills grow exponentially, but you will gain a perspective on how people work and live in today's Spain that a typical study abroad experience cannot provide.

Madrid is Spain's capital and largest city, located on the river Manzanares in the center of the country. Madrid is considered the major financial center of the Iberian Peninsula and hosts the head offices of the vast majority of the major Spanish companies.

The Tippie College has partnered with EUSA to bring Iowa undergraduate students a customized academic internship opportunity in Madrid. The program is nearly 10 weeks in length. Students stay with Spanish families and commute on public transportation to their internship. After a three-day orientation, students participate in a week-long intensive language class established to help you transition into your daily life in Madrid before beginning your internship placement. Immediately following the language course, your eight-week internship begins.

This program is NOT your typical study abroad program. It is a program for mature students who are seeking an experience that will provide both full language immersion and international work experience.
