Joseph (Joe) George
What are your research areas? I teach Entrepreneurial Marketing in the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.
Did you work in industry before teaching? I was a marketing director for banks in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Texas, general manager of two CBS-affiliated television stations, and executive V.P. of sales and marketing for Frank N. Magid Associates, one of the oldest and largest applied research and consulting firms in the world specializing in the media.
What do you love most about the University of Iowa or living in Iowa? Working with students.
What are your hobbies or what do you like to do on weekends? Golf, scuba diving, private pilot.
Do you have children? I have three children. One is a member of the University of Iowa golf team; the two oldest are involved in sales and marketing.
Do you have pets? I have two dogs.
What are some of your favorite books? Murder mysteries.
What are some of your favorite movies? Driving Miss Daisy, Anna and the King, Gone with the Wind, and Top Gun.
Where were you born? Where have you lived besides Iowa? I was born in Memphis and grew up in Mississippi. I also have lived in Texas. I spent 16 years in London, England, but did not move there permanently.
Countries visited? Too numerous to mention. I have been to every continent except Antarctica.
