Zack Bromert, product manager for children’s apparel at Nike, and member of the Maketing Institute Advisory Council, is hosting four students (Samantha Irey, Chris Rickert, Jessica Sullivan, and Nils Thorson) at Nike’s headquarters in Oregon for the week of September 10-14. Students will have the opportunity to shadow executives in charge of Nike’s product, sports, and brand marketing. We thank Zach and Nike for giving our students experiences they cannot get in the classroom.
Projects are a large part of the Marketing Institute. These projects give students the opportunity to gain real-world experience, work in groups to decide outcomes, and interact with clients in a professional environment. This semester's projects include working with EdVenture Partners and Chevrolet on event planning, eye-tracking studies with Relationship Marketing and the Iowa Geriatric Education Center, and working with large data sets with the consulting firm Driva Solutions.
Peter Finzel and Cliff Forsythe, district sales managers for GM, kicked off the Chevrolet Project with students on September 7 by bringing five Chevrolet cars to campus for the students to go over. Our thanks to Peter and Cliff as well as product trainer Mitch Roese for educating us about these fine automobiles!
Advisory Council Meeting
This October 18-19, marketing professionals from all over the United States will be coming to Iowa City for the semiannual Marketing Institute Advisory Council meeting. Students will interact with the council and institute alumni at a dinner on Thursday night, as well as all day Friday in mock interviews, group activities, and presentations by various members. Advisory Council meetings are a great time for students, faculty, and institute alumni to engage and network with council members.
