In general, the Tippie School of Management recommends that all course work after formal admission be completed through the University of Iowa. The school may consider the transfer of an elective course if the course is consistent with the student's career goals and is not offered at the student's MBA-PM Program site.
Should a student move outside the area served by the MBA-PM Program, the school will work with the student to complete the MBA degree by allowing the student to transfer credits if the following requirements are met:
The total number of transfer hours that can be applied toward the MBA degree is 9.
If you majored in business as an undergraduate, or if you have completed a significant amount of course work in a business-related area (economics, finance, statistics, etc.), you may be eligible for a core course waiver. Consult with an advisor before you take classes to make informed choices.
Typically course waivers are given to students who have recently mastered a large amount of related academic subject material. Waiving a course requires that students still complete the same number of hours for graduation. Waived core course hours are replaced with elective credit hours.
If you would like to have your transcripts reviewed to receive more personalized answers regarding waivers, please fax an unofficial copy of your transcripts to mbapm@uiowa.edu.
