Executives To Discuss Trends in Business Acquisition and Global Expansion

Iowa-based companies are reaching beyond our borders and are competing in the global marketplace. They are acquiring other companies in strategic, calculated moves that expand company operations and market share, not only in the states but around the world.

Key executives from Rockwell Collins, Deere & Company, and Principal Financial will be joining a former CNBC executive for a panel discussion at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 at the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business that will focus on the hot topics of global expansion and corporate acquisition. The event will be in the Tippie Auditorium (W151) of the Pappajohn Business Building and is free and open to the public.

"Leadership Perspective: Trends in Acquisition and Global Expansion" will be moderated by Susan Phillips, dean of the School of Business and Public Management at The George Washington University. The panel will feature noted members of the Tippie College's Board of Visitors. They include:

  • John Aschenbrenner, President, Insurance and Financial Services Group, Principal Financial Group
  • Bill Bolster, retired Chairman and CEO of CNBC International
  • Clay Jones, Chairman, President and CEO of Rockwell Collins
  • Marie Ziegler, Vice President of Investor Relations for Deere & Company

The panelists are on the college's Board of Visitors, comprised of business and academic leaders who provide advice to the college about its programs and professional activities.

The speakers represent Iowa-based companies that have acquired other companies as part of their expansion, while also competing in a complex global market. Bolster is an Iowa native who was the driving force behind the expansion of the CNBC franchise overseas.
