UI Small Business Development Center Offers Tax Series

Are you a small business owner grappling with the various taxes you have to deal with on a daily basis? An opportunity to attend a series of classes dealing with tax issues directly related to small businesses is coming your way. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC), in conjunction with the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) at the University of Iowa, is offering a Small Business Tax Series in October.

This series of five classes, taught by Don Burr from the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance, will be held each week throughout the month of October. The dates and topics include:

Oct. 3: Sales, Use and Local Option Taxes

Oct. 10: Business Expenses and Deductions

Oct. 17: Reporting Sole Proprietor Income

Oct. 24: Payroll and Employment Taxes

Oct. 31: Construction Contractors

The weekly classes will meet from 6-8 p.m., in Room S401 of the Pappajohn Business Building on the corner of Jefferson and Clinton streets, Iowa City.
