Top Economic Forecaster To Speak at UI Oct. 25

Brian Wesbury Brian Wesbury, ranked the nation's No. 1 economic forecaster by The Wall Street Journal, will speak Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the University of Iowa.

Hosted by the UI's John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) and Iowa State Bank & Trust Company, the free presentation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the second floor ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.

Wesbury is chief investment strategist and Chairman of the Investment Committee at Claymore Securities, Inc., a financial services firm based in Lisle, Ill. Ranked by USA Today as one of the nation's top 10 economic forecasters in 2004, Wesbury is regularly featured on CNBC's "Squawk Box," CNN, and Bloomberg Business TV.

He is a contributing writer to Barron's, Investors' Business Daily, Forbes, U.S. News and World Report, and The Wall Street Journal editorial page. Wesbury also writes a monthly column for The American Spectator magazine, and serves as the magazine's economics editor. He has published several books including "The New Era of Wealth" for McGraw-Hill.

In 1995 and 1996, Wesbury served as chief economist for the Joint Economic Committee, advising Congress on economic issues relating to federal budget, tax trade, and monetary policy. He has also served as vice president and economist for the Chicago Corporation. Wesbury received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Montana and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
