Conference To Help College Seniors Start Their Careers Set for Feb. 3

Seniors at the University of Iowa will have the opportunity to learn more about life after college and how to make a smooth transition to the workplace at "Senior Conference 2007: Going Places," a day-long workshop on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Hosted by the Marvin A. and Rose Lee Pomerantz Career Center, the conference starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Iowa City Sheraton Hotel and lasts until 6 p.m. Registration is $25.

The keynote speakers include: Abby Miller, author of the book "The Quarter Life Crisis"; Andre Hughes, a senior executive from Accenture; and Norm Parker, defensive coordinator for the University of Iowa Hawkeye football team. Breakout sessions will also be held to help soon-to-be graduates understand benefits, negotiate job offers, communicate on the job, learn to budget, network and more. Following the breakout sessions, representative from companies including Target, The Principal Financial Group, and Pella Corporation will be available for students who wish to start building networks.

Corporate sponsors for the event include Target, Pella Corp., Caterpillar, Cerner Corp., The Principal Financial Group, Sherwin Williams, Consider Iowa, HNI, and Pearson.

The Pomerantz Career Center provides services to students and alumni from the University of Iowa.
