JPEC Sets Entrepreneurship Week Events Feb. 24 through March 3
"The Entrepreneurship Week national initiative is designed to serve as an inspiration for young people to think creatively and to turn their ideas into action, whether that means starting a new business, developing an innovation for an existing company or solving a problem that makes society better," said David Hensley, clinical professor of business in the Tippie College of Business and director of UI's JPEC.
From Feb. 24 to March 3, thousands of activities, ranging from high school competitions to academic gatherings and local town halls to a national policy summit, will be held across the country for Entrepreneurship Week. UI's JPEC is participating, as well, and has a series of events set for the week, including: (all events are free unless otherwise indicated.)
Tuesday, Feb. 27
Be Your Own Boss. A conference for selected high school students interested in learning about entrepreneurship: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory (BELL), 322 N. Clinton St. Call 319-335-0985 for more information.
Wednesday, Feb. 28
Entrepreneurship from An Actress' Perspective. UI alumna and professional actress Tanna Frederick will explain how entrepreneurship has helped her establish herself as one of Hollywood's leading young independent film actresses in this Sandage Series lecture: 4 to 5 p.m., Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory, 322 N. Planting the SEEDS for Tomorrow's Growth. Collegiate Entrepreneurs Iowa Conference and Pappajohn New Venture Business Plan Competition. A daylong conference for college and high school students from across the state will be held at Drake University in Des Moines. More information is available online at www.iowajpec.org.
