Registration Begins for Youth Entrepreneur Camp
Sponsored by the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) and Hills Bank and Trust Company, the weeklong camp shows students in grades 4 through 6 what it's like to start a business through classroom and practical experience. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily July 9 to 13, in the John Pappajohn Business Building in Iowa City. During the camp, students will:
- Meet successful area entrepreneurs
- Identify the basic skills required of entrepreneurs
- Learn how to market a product or service
- Determine profit potential for a new venture
- Develop a plan to start their own businesses
Registrations received by May 4 will receive priority consideration. The cost is $159, or $139 if the application is received by April 20. The fee includes bus transportation for tours to business sites, class materials, snacks, lunches and graduation reception. Several scholarships are available for those in need.
