Rynes Receives MERInstitute Award

, professor of management and organizations, received the only Management Education Research Institute Fellowship for 2008. Rynes will use the $50,000 award to examine the success of alternative pedagogies and teaching methods; review the extent to which managers knowledge, beliefs, and implementation choices in behavioral management are consistent with research-based evidence; and examine syllabi and other course materials for required management courses in 100 accredited MBA programs for evidence of research-based teaching content, principles, and learning objectives.
Rynes is the John F. Murray Professor of Management and Organizations in the Tippie College of Business. She received a Ph.D. in industrial relations, an M.S. in industrial relations, and a B.A. in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is past editor of the Academy of Management Journal; a Fellow of the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology; and a member of the Society for Organizational Behavior.
