Alumnus To Discuss Developing Cable Network Start-Ups in Tippie Lecture Nov. 7
Nick Rhodes, a 1987 University of Iowa graduate who went on to help found such cable TV networks as Versus, the Speed Channel, and Spanish-language Fox Sports Americas, will speak at the Tippie College of Business at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in S307 Pappajohn Business Building. Rhodes' lecture, "The Building of Multiple Cable TV Networks: Concept to Business Plan to Launch to Sale," is free and open to the public. Rhodes also helped to develop the Conference USA Division I athletic conference and two 24-hour satellite radio services. Rhodes is currently the managing director of Blxware, LLC, a technology holding company that owns proprietary science with core applications for media, communications, security, and several other business sectors. Rhodes received his degree in broadcasting and film from Iowa.
