Area High School Students Attend Accounting Day at Tippie
High school students who appreciate precision, get a kick out of strategizing, and enjoy understanding how a business works, were able to get an insider's view on careers in accounting during the University of Iowa Accounting Day on October 8.
Twenty-four students from 13 different high schools arrived at the Pappajohn Business Building to learn about the life of professionals in the area of business and accounting. Faculty members Bruce Johnson and Al Schepanski spent the day helping the students explore the world of accounting, including hosting a luncheon with a panel of speakers, conducting a tour of the Pappajohn Business Building, and giving the students the opportunity to sit in on a college accounting class.
The UI Accounting Day is just one of several career exploration events coordinated by Iowa City's Workplace Learning Connection in cooperation with local school districts.
