UI SBDC, JPEC Help Competitors Reach Business Plan Semifinals
Nearly half of the 30 semifinalists selected in the 2009 John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition received assistance from The University of Iowa's Small Business Development Center in cooperation with the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.
The semifinalists were chosen out of 65 entries from different types of businesses, including manufacturing, bioscience, data management, bioenergy, and more. Fourteen of them worked with the UI SBDC and JPEC.
Up to 10 finalists will present to judges at the Iowa Venture Capital and Entrepreneurs Conference on Oct. 6. Three businesses will be awarded cash prizes totaling $50,000.
Partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Iowa Small Business Development Center has 15 regional assistance centers statewide that provide expert counseling and training workshops to business owners and entrepreneurs. For more information, visit www.iowasbdc.org.
