Awards Presented at MBA Spring Honors Banquet

Students, faculty, staff and an alumni mentor were honored at the Henry B. Tippie School of Management Spring Honors Banquet. Second-year MBA student Yana Adamichina received two of the evening's top honors at the April 12 event.

In addition to being named MBA Student of the Year by her peers, Adamichina, along with fellow second-year student Donald Schmidt, was presented with an MBA IMPACT Award. This award recognizes graduating students who exemplify the attributes of the core values of the MBA program known as IMPACT (Involvement, Motivation, Professionalism, Achievement, Challenge and Teamwork) during their tenure in the program. Faculty and staff of the Tippie College of Business select recipients.

During the ceremony, students nominated for the IMPACT Award were also recognized. They include Jennifer Brophy, Joy Donald, Jodi Eineichner, Michelle Finley, Allen Goody, Bart Hendryx, Joontak Lee, Bin Liang, Shankar Radhakrishnan and Andrea Wieland.

Nicole Pfeiffer received the Wall Street Journal Award, which recognizes a first-year student who has excelled in the classroom and been active in MBA activities. First-year core faculty select the recipient of this award.

Roy Suddaby, assistant professor of management and organizations, received the MBA Core Faculty Member of the Year award. Baba Shiv, assistant professor of marketing, was selected as this year's MBA Elective Faculty Member of the Year. The Tippie School of Management Staff Member of the Year award was given to Jeff Emrich, director of student services in the Tippie School.

A new honor initiated this year was the MBA Alumni Mentor Award, given to Sean Davison, a 1998 MBA graduate and manager of credit operations at John Deere Credit in Madison, Wisc. UI MBA students, faculty and staff selected Davison to receive this award based on his outstanding efforts in mentoring current MBA students, hiring interns, recruiting prospective MBA students, and serving on the Tippie School's Advisory Council. The Tippie School created an alumni mentor program this past year for alumni to provide advice and encouragement to existing students.
