UI Program Helps Local Kids Bring Lemonade Stands to Downtown Iowa City
Starbucks and the Java House will have added competition for downtown Iowa City’s beverage drinkers on Thursday, as lemonade stands will pop up all over the neighborhood.
Students in this summer’s UI youth entrepreneurship camp are operating the stands in teams to see which stand can sell the most lemonade and make the largest profit as part of an Apprentice-style competition. The students, who come from middle schools in the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids area, will work eight lemonade stands on the Pedestrian Mall from 10 to 11 a.m. on July 22.
Rain location will be inside the University Capitol Center.
The students are part of the Jacobson Entrepreneurship Academy, offered by The University of Iowa’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.
