Southwestern Community College Partners with UI to Provide Degrees
Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in Creston, Iowa, and the University of Iowa have partnered to bring UI coursework and degrees to SWCC starting this fall.
UI President Sally Mason and SWCC President Barb Crittenden formalized this partnership during a signing ceremony at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 25, on the SWCC campus.
Students who complete their Associate in Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or Associate of Arts (AA) degree may continue their education by enrolling in a UI degree program. SWCC graduates may choose from three degree options: the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS), the Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) and the RN-BSN degree.
The partnership allows SWCC students the option to pursue five different tracks within the Bachelor of Applied Studies degree. The five tracks are general studies, nonprofit management certificate, the entrepreneurial management certificate, human relations, and political science. A sixth track on justice studies is also in development. UI Division of Continuing Education advisors will visit SWCC, as well as provide online support to help students plan a course of study and achieve their educational goals.
