Iowa Western, UI to Sign Agreement Aug. 26
Officials at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and The University of Iowa will meet this week to sign an articulation agreement offering educational opportunities for students in southwest Iowa. The agreement will enable students to complete their associate's degree at Iowa Western and then take UI distance education course work to earn a bachelor's degree.
Dan Kinney, president of Iowa Western, and UI President Sally Mason will hold a signing ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 26, in the new student center on the campus in Council Bluffs. A public reception will follow at 2:30 p.m.
Upon completion of the associate’s degree, students can choose from five career tracks at the UI: entrepreneurial management, general studies, human relations, nonprofit management, and political science.
Some of the other benefits include: the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) accepts career and technical credits on an equal basis with other community college credits; and up to 60 semester hours of community college course work may be accepted as transfer credits for the BAS/Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS), just to name a few.
