Hunter to Retire as Dean of Tippie College of Business
William C. (Curt) Hunter will retire as dean of the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the end of the 2011-2012 academic year.
Hunter said he is proud to have had a positive impact on the college during his tenure. He said UI business students are more prepared for successful careers in the global workplace because they have increased opportunities for hands-on learning, international travel and learning experiences, and innovative programming that is geared toward solidifying their prospects for success.
A search for Hunter’s replacement will begin this summer.
Hunter, 63, came to the Tippie College in July 2006 from the deanship at the School of Business at the University of Connecticut. Prior to that, he held several senior officer positions within the Federal Reserve System in Chicago and Atlanta.
Hunter will retire as dean emeritus and continue to serve on corporate, civic, and academic boards. He will also assume the role of president of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society, for a two-year term beginning in 2013.
