Vermeer CEO to Discuss Growth of Her Family Business at JPEC Lecture
Mary Vermeer Andringa, president and CEO of Pella-based Vermeer Corp., will deliver the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center's John Hughes Lecture at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, in the Iowa City Sheraton Hotel.
Andringa will discuss the history of Vermeer, its global growth, and focus on innovation. She'll also talk about how family businesses can complete effective leadership transitions. Admission is free and open to the public. RSVP by April 29 at www.iowajpec.org or call 319-335-1022.
Andringa has been on the board of the family-owned manufacturer of construction, agricultural, and maintenance equipment since 1976. She became an employee in 1982, was named president in 1989, and co-CEO with her brother in 2003. She became sole CEO in 2009.
She is currently vice chair of the National Association of Manufacturing and in 2010 was appointed to the President's Export Council by Barack Obama.
