Southeastern Community College Partners with UI to Offer Online Business Degree
Southeastern Community College (SCC) and the University of Iowa have formalized an agreement to allow SCC students to earn the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) without having to travel outside of southeast Iowa.
UI President Sally Mason and SCC President Beverly Simone will sign the agreement at a ceremony Friday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. in the John Caldwell Boardroom on SCC's West Burlington campus.
Three other degrees will be offered online, including the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS), the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS), and the RN-BSN.
These online degrees enable students who complete their Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, or Registered Nurse requirements from SCC to continue to take UI online courses.
According to Chet Rzonca, dean of UI's Division of Continuing Education, this partnership helps the UI to reach place-bound students and provide the opportunity to earn a quality degree. The BAS was specifically developed in response to a statewide study committee which identified the needs of community college graduates unlikely to attend a traditional campus.
