Sustainability Summit to Be Part of Events on Feb. 10

A WorldCanvass program on "The History of Sustainability" will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in the Old Capitol Senate Chamber. Guests will reflect on the rise of global environmental concerns in centuries past, discuss how climate and weather patterns have affected population growth and expansion, and look at ways in which art and film have addressed the environment.

Earlier that day, the second annual Net Impact Sustainability Summit "Sustainability, It Just Makes Business Sense" will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Iowa Memorial Union's Second Floor Ballroom.
 
Gillen D'Arcy Wood, director of the Sustainability Studies Initiative in the Humanities at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, will explain how climate destabilization is shaping world events. His talk is also scheduled Friday at 3 p.m. in Gerber Lounge, Room 304, English-Philosophy Building,
 
All events are free and open to the public.
