UI To Offer Undergraduate Business Courses in Des Moines

Starting in January 2003, students in the Des Moines area will be able to take University of Iowa business courses without leaving town. The UI Henry B. Tippie College of Business will be offering six to seven business courses each year in Des Moines.

The first two courses to be offered during the Spring 2003 semester are Marketing (6M:100) and Financial Management (6F:100), both junior-level core courses required for an undergraduate degree from the Tippie College of Business. The schedule calls for these courses to be offered again during the Fall 2003 semester along with additional courses. In the summer term, the College plans to offer two elective courses.

"This will not only benefit Des Moines-area students, but also UI students who go home for the summer and want to pick up an extra class," said Susan Felker, director of undergraduate programs for the Tippie College.

Open to students from all Des Moines-area colleges, as well as other qualified individuals, the courses will have limited enrollment and will be offered at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) West Campus.

Registration will be available on-line. Interested DMACC students may also ask their advisors for an application. Undergraduate tuition is $462 for a three-semester-hour class in the spring 2003 semester and is subject to change in future sessions.
