My Iowa State Fair Golf Cart Ride With the Iowan of the Day
Jeralyn Westercamp is today’s (Aug. 10) Iowan of the Day, an honor bestowed daily during the fair by the Blue Ribbon Foundation for residents who excel in “integrity, Iowa pride, hard work and dedication.” Judges sift through hundreds of nominees each year.
Westercamp, 21 and a senior at the University of Iowa, might be the youngest Iowan of the Day in 15 years of the award. And I get tired just reading her resume of academic, volunteer, and committee work.
The honor includes use of a golf cart for the day at the fair, and I survived a ride in the shotgun seat as I interviewed Westercamp in transit.
