UI Students from across Iowa Gain Experience Through Internships
The UI Career Center is a campus resource that helps students find opportunities to apply their skills at a variety of organizations and businesses. Participants in internship programs are able to gain new perspectives on potential careers, as well as learn how to acclimate to a professional work environment. The student interns are listed below by their hometown, major and internship.
ALLEMAN- Lindsey B. Brumback, a junior business and Spanish major, interned with Pioneer Hi-Bred International in Johnston.
ANKENY- Jason Krause, a senior journalism major, interned as a journalist for the American Diabetes Association in Milwaukee, Wisc. Alan Pothast, a junior finance major, interned with the Des Moines Register and Ankeny Press Citizen. Kateri Routh, a senior business and marketing major, provided supportive assistance for the elderly as an intern for HomeSafe in Iowa City.
BETTENDORF- Matthew Miller, a senior management information sciences major, interned with the UI College of Public Health, working as an assistant network administrator.
CARROLL- Glen Reineke, a senior actuarial science major, interned with Cigna Healthcare in Bloomfield, Conn., working as an insurance actuary.
DEWITT- Lesleyann Christensen, a senior communications and women studies major, interned at Noel-Levitz Strategic Solutions for Education in Iowa City.
DUNLAP- Brent A. Nielsen, a senior finance and management information systems double major, interned at Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, working as a financial associate. FORT DODGE- Nate Green, a junior business and pre-law major, interned with UI Orientation Advisor Andrew Cinoman, working as a group leader.
IDA GROVE- Brandon Miller, a senior with an accounting and management information systems major and a computer science minor, worked as a technology and security systems auditor for Ernst & Young, LLP in Des Moines.
INDEPENDENCE- Laura Klever, a sophomore majoring in management, organizations and marketing, interned as an advising assistant at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business undergraduate program office.
LE MARS- David Brown, a junior finance major, interned at the People's National Bank in Council Bluffs.
LONG GROVE- Andrea M. Murphy, a senior journalism and sociology major, interned with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, working as a broadcast journalist.
MARION- Krystal Prideaux, a senior management major specializing in human resources, conducted research, developed a handbook, redesigned the interview system and restructured the evaluation process as an intern with the Iowa Children's Museum.
PARK VIEW- Emily Walker, a senior journalism and mass communications major interned at Henry Russell Bruce, a public relations firm in Cedar Rapids.
TOLEDO- Danielle Plogmann, a junior journalism and political science major, interned at Feature Story News in Washington, D.C., working as a broadcast journalist.
URBANDALE- Merrisa Brown, a junior journalism and history major, interned with WOI-TV Channel 5 Eyewitness News, working as a web producer.
WEBSTER CITY- Shalini Hanoman, a junior finance, management and organizations major, interned at the Webster City Medical Clinic.
