Supervalu CEO Jeff Noddle Speaks Oct. 24 at Tippie College of Business

Jeff Noddle, president, chairman and chief executive officer of Supervalu, Inc., will speak about leadership and the business industry on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. The talk, part of the NCS Leadership Series, begins at noon in Room W401 in the MidAmerican Energy Colloquium of the John Pappajohn Business Building at the UI.

Noddle will speak to invited students, faculty, staff, and guests about his company, and its role in the changing food industry. He also will give his perspectives on leadership.

During his visit, Noddle will talk with Tippie College management sciences faculty, visit a service marketing class, and meet with staff from MBA Career Services and the undergraduate Career Center. Noddle will also meet with Dean Gary Fethke and other administrators and faculty from the Tippie College.

Noddle earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Iowa in 1969 and joined Supervalu in 1976 as director of retail operations for the company's JM Jones division. Before being named CEO in June 2001 and chairman of the board in May 2002, Noddle held numerous positions within Supervalu. He was named president and chief operating officer in 2000. He also serves on several industry and corporate boards, such as the Independent Grocers Alliance, Inc. and the Sarah W. Stedman Center for Nutritional Studies at Duke University Medical Center.

Supervalu is one of the largest food distributors to grocery retailers in the United States, with approximately 57,800 employees and annual revenues topping $20 billion. The retail store network consists of 1,260 stores in 39 states, including Save-A-Lot, Cub Foods, Shop 'n Save, Scott's Foods, and Hornbacher's. Supervalu serves as the primary supplier to approximately 2,750 supermarkets and 31 Cub Foods franchised locations, while serving as secondary supplier to approximately 1,500 stores.
