The program recognizes the achievements of outstanding undergraduate and graduate risk management students, financially supporting their attendance at the RIMS 2014 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Denver on April 27-30.

“The innovative and ever changing risk management and insurance industry is the right fit for me,” Rosenberg says. “The industry allows me to leverage both my analytical and interpersonal skills that I am learning in the classroom and through exposure to the industry. After taking engaging courses through the Vaughan Institute and gaining inspiration from my father and grandfather, both of whom worked in the business, I know this is a career I will enjoy and cherish. I will be proud to be a fifth-generation Rosenberg in this industry.”

“Ali Rosenberg is an exceptional student with focus, determination and clear career goals,” said Viana Rockel, associate director of the UI Vaughan Institute of Risk Management and Insurance. “In addition to the Anita Benedetti Award, Ali recently received designation as a Spencer Scholar, which brings with it a prestigious XL Capital Group/Ian R. Heap Memorial Scholarship. This summer, she will intern with Rockhill Insurance and RT Specialty in Kansas City through the highly competitive national NAPSLO Internship Program. The Vaughan Institute congratulates Ali on all of her recent awards.”

“Now, in its 36th year, the Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program continues to emphasize RIMS’ commitment to risk management and insurance students pursuing rewarding careers in this dynamic discipline,” said RIMS Executive Director Mary Roth. “At the conference, our scholars will be privy to an exceptional educational program designed specifically for them, as well as tremendous opportunities to network with industry leaders. Congratulations to Ali Rosenberg for her remarkable academic achievements and we look forward to hosting her this year at our conference.”

Funding for this year’s program was provided by the following sponsors:  The Spencer Educational Foundation, AIG, Liberty Mutual, McGriff, Seibels & Williams, Inc. and Sedgwick. The program is cosponsored by the RIMS Atlanta, Carolinas, Chesapeake, New Jersey, New York, Piedmont, Potomac and Virginia Chapters.

The RIMS Student Involvement Program was initiated as a pilot program at the 1978 Annual Conference in New Orleans. Due to its overwhelming success, the Student Involvement Committee was created, and the program has become a permanent part of the RIMS Annual Conference. The name was changed to the Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program in 1997.

RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition attracts some 10,000 risk and insurance professionals at all experience levels, business executives with risk management interests, brokers, insurers, and service providers for the ultimate educational and networking experience. The four-day event offers more than 160 educational sessions, keynote presentations, special events, and an expansive Exhibit Hall with approximately 400 exhibitors.
