Tippie Receives Accreditation from AACSB
The University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business has been notified that its accreditation has been approved by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
The University of Iowa's business program was first accredited in 1923, just two years after it was elevated to collegiate status, and it has maintained accreditation without interruption ever since. The AACSB accredits less than five percent of the world's business programs, and Tippie is one of only two business programs in the state to currently be accredited by the organization, along with Iowa State University.
The accreditation includes the entire business program, as well as a specialized accreditation for Tippie’s accounting program.
"We are very happy to announce our reaccreditation," says Sarah Fisher Gardial, dean of the Tippie College of Business. "This successful outcome is the result of a long process of strategically reviewing our program offerings, gathering extensive data, and a site visit from a group of our peers in February. It involved a great deal of work from everyone within the College and we are all very proud of this accomplishment."
"It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students."
The Tippie College of Business offers an undergraduate degree (BBA) in six different subject areas; a one-year Master's of Accountancy (MAc) program that helps qualify accounting students to sit for the CPA exam; PhD programs in six academic areas; and a vibrant portfolio of MBA programs including an on-campus, two-year Full-time MBA Program; an MBA for Professionals and Managers (MBA-PM) program available in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and the Quad Cities; an Executive MBA Program in Cedar Rapids/Iowa City and Des Moines; a Dual Master's program where students receive both an MBA from Iowa and a Master's in Engineering from Iowa State; and a Hong Kong MBA Program. In addition, the Tippie College is the degree- and credit-granting institution for the Consortium of Universities for International Studies (CUIS).
