UI Student Releases Injured Owl Back into Wild
A University of Iowa student helped release an injured owl back into the wild Friday afternoon.
Brian Leal, a UI freshman, found the injured owl while studying last month. It was on the ground outside the PappaJohn Business Building, near a small pool of blood.
"I thought, 'This isn't right. Someone must be able to help,'" Leal said.
Leal was able to connect with the Macbride Raptor Project near North Liberty. Researchers there were able to nurse the owl back to health.
Friday afternoon Leal was given an opportunity to return the injured owl to the wild, near the spot where he found her.
"It was really cool," he said. "I'm so glad so many people care about this type of thing."
