Minority MBA Student Association to hold Ethnic Marketing Symposium Feb. 24
The Association organized the symposium to discuss marketing strategies for urban and ethnic communities. William Gray, president of the Minority MBA Student Association said that with the growing minority populations, corporations should pay attention to these groups.
'"I think it is of vital importance with the millions of consumer dollars that ethnic minorities spend that small and large corporations recognize the power of these groups especially with the rising Latin and Hispanic populations," said Gray.
Panelists scheduled to present and speak are: Marc Williams of Foot Action; Patrick Walsh, president and owner of Mjini.com, an urban marketing firm; Melody Guy of Random House Publishing; Vincent Jackson of Marketing Moves; and Antona Smith of Hallmark.
The symposium is sponsored by the Tippie School of Business, Random House, the Iowa Memorial Union marketing department, UI student government, and E.P.M. Communications Inc.
The event is free and open to the public; lunch will be provided. To register online, go to: www.geocities.com/ta06j/mmbaa.html.
