American Marketing Association Continues Toy Drive through Dec. 17

The University of Iowa chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) will continue their Tons of Toys drive though Dec. 17, benefiting children who are in the cancer unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The AMA chapter from the Henry B. Tippie College of Business began this community service project Dec. 2, and it will run through Tuesday, Dec. 17. In their second year for the drive, they hope to collect 300 toys, up from the 200 toys delivered last year. Collection boxes have been placed outside the dean's office and in the department of marketing in the Pappajohn Business Building. Toys have been collected not only from faculty, staff and students in the Tippie College of Business, but from the campus community as well. The marketing students promoted the drive Thursday by visiting with University of Iowa Interim President Willard "Sandy" Boyd. Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman joined Boyd for photos. "So many people have supported this project, and it has grown virally across campus," said Dave Collins, UI marketing instructor and AMA advisor. "It's a great way to give back to the community," added AMA chapter president John Thompson. Financial contributions may also be made care of the AMA.
