Two faculty members at The Henry B. Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa have recently received notable awards. Ramji Balakrishnan has been named the winner of the Best Paper Award by the Journal of Management Accounting Research and Nancy Hauserman has won a University of Iowa Collegiate Teaching Award.

Ramji Balakrishnan's paper, "A Critical Overview of the Use of Full-Cost Data for Planning and Pricing" (with Shiva Sivaramakrishnan of Texas A&M), has been given the Journal of Management Accounting Research Best Paper Award by the American Accounting Association's Management Accounting Section. The award is for papers published in the past three issues and will be presented at a section meeting in San Diego.

The Journal of Management Accounting Research is devoted to improving the theory and practice of management accounting. The Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association strives to stimulate and improve the teaching, researching and practice of accounting which assists in the effective and efficient management of entities.

Balakrishnan is the Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting. He is a member of both the American Accounting Association and the Institute of Management Accountants and has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Management Accounting Research and The Accounting Review.

At the 2003 University of Iowa Convocation, Nancy Hauserman will receive a University of Iowa Collegiate Teaching Award in recognition of her exemplary performance as a teacher. This designation reflects the high esteem with which her colleagues and students regard the quality of her teaching.
