Awards Presented at MBA Spring Honors Banquet

Several University of Iowa students, faculty and staff were honored at the Henry B. Tippie School of Management Spring Honors Banquet on April 11.

Rob Van Auken and Nicole Pfeiffer received the MBA IMPACT Award. This award recognizes graduating students who exemplify the attributes of the core values of the MBA program known as IMPACT (Involvement, Motivation, Professionalism, Achievement, Challenge and Teamwork) during their program. Faculty and staff of the Tippie College of Business select recipients.

Andres Ayala and Van Auken were selected by their peers as the first- and second-year MBA Students of the Year, respectively. The faculty who teach the program's core courses selected Marc Dorau to receive the Wall Street Journal Award, which recognizes a first-year student who has both excelled in the classroom and been active in MBA activities.

The $5,000 Kiplinger Award went to Rebecca Dunphey, who demonstrated both academic excellence and potential for leadership. The award is given by the Kiplinger Foundation, an independent grant-making foundation established by W. M. Kiplinger, a business economics journalist who founded "The Kiplinger Letter," a weekly business forecasting publication, and "Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine."

Matt Billett, professor of finance, received the MBA Core Faculty of the Year award. Baba Shiv, assistant professor of marketing, was selected this year's MBA Elective Faculty of the Year. The Tippie School of Management Staff Member of the Year was awarded to Jeff Emrich, director of student services in the Tippie School.

Brian Uhlmann, a 2000 MBA graduate, received the MBA Alumni Mentor Award. UI MBA students, faculty, and staff selected Ulhmann to receive this award based on his outstanding efforts in mentoring current MBA students. Uhlmann currently works at ACNielsen in Schaumburg, Illinois, as an associate client manager on the SC Johnson Team.
