Rynes Debunks Myths

SARA RYNES, head of the University of Iowa's department of management and organization, said that when it comes to managing people, good advice sparked by recent research is often lost amid the wealth of misinformation perpetuated by popular myths. One misconception is that conscientiousness is a better predictor of employee performance than intelligence. The truth is that both are good predictors of performance, but intelligence is on average about 60 percent more effective as a predictor.
