The Tippie College of Business is proud that two business alumni, Patrick Baird, BBA76, and Jim Hanson, BSC58, have been chosen to receive Distinguished Alumni Awards for Achievement.

The awards are have been given annually since 1963 to recognize the achievements and service of UI alumni and friends. This year's awards are given in four categories: Achievement, Service, Faculty and Young Alumni. The Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievement is given for significant accomplishments in business or professional life or for distinguished human service. While at the University, Baird was a member of the UI golf team.

Jim Hanson, BSC58, met his wife Joann, BA56, on the UI campus and together they have consistently given back to the University. The Hansons have supported a range of UI projects and programs including the Tippie College of Business, campus radio stations, the arts, and Old Capitol. They have devoted countless hours to various UI boards and campaigns, and, in 2000 the Hansons established a scholarship that helps students who demonstrate leadership skills or possess volunteer experience.
